Troop 1028 Service Projects: Scouting For Food
Pack 77 and Troop 1028 are working together again this year to support the Scouting for Food food drive to benefit the local Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Due to the state of the economy, food supplies are running low and needs are high. This is truly our most widely beneficial community service project of the year and it really helps a lot of fine folks who are in often desperate need. To learn more about the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (the Thomas Jefferson Area Food Bank is part of this overall organization), visit their website at: http://www.brafb.org
Key Scouting for Food Dates:
Door Hangers Out - Saturday October 21, 2017 - meet Captains to get your street assignments and hang door hangers either that day or make arrangements with Captains to get your hangers earlier to distribute at your convenience
Food Collection - Saturday October 28, 2017 - confirm your street assignments and collect food during the day to return to Captain. We ask that food donations be put out by 11:00am, but if you can make a final sweep between 2:00-3:00pm
The neighborhoods we cover include Redfields, Mosby Mountain, Mill Creek, Mill Creek South, Lake Reynovia, Foxcroft, Willoughby, and Dunlora. You can help in your neighborhood or any other neighborhood with meeting times that work for you. To participate, just email the neighborhood captain (see captains link below) to let them know you are coming. If you choose to just show up, please arrive 5 minutes before the meeting time so we don't leave without you.
Troop 1028 Service Projects: Houses of Wood and Straw (HOWS)
Troop 1028 traditionally helps the HOWS organization by building dog houses for dogs of local families in need.
